Does buying a villa give you the right to live in Bali
The second-home visa is built on money held or property bought, and the property route names apartments rather than houses. A villa purchase on its own is not a residence permit.
The number
The second-home visa asks for one of two commitments. One is property worth a million dollars, and the page describes it as an apartment. The other is a deposit of USD 130,000 in a state bank, which has nothing to do with what you bought.

Agency decks put “residency” next to a villa price with no step in between. The immigration authority’s own page for the second-home visa puts two steps in between, and neither of them is a villa.
The property route asks for a commitment to buy property in Indonesia worth at least USD 1,000,000, and the page describes that property as a rumah susun or apartment — a condominium unit.1Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi, Kementerian Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan, Last reviewed A detached house is not named. We are reading a list, not a ministry’s explanation of the list, so the honest statement is that the enumeration covers apartments and does not mention landed houses — which is not the same as a published prohibition, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

It comes from the announcement that launched the programme in November 2022, under rules that took effect that December. The current page states the guarantee in dollars. If a deck still quotes the rupiah figure, what it is quoting is the 2022 press release.
A note on how we read this, because it changes what the piece is worth. The immigration site refused our requests, so the page was read in an archived copy taken on 21 May 2026. That is four months old at the time of writing. Fees and thresholds on these pages change without announcement, so treat the numbers as “what the page said on that date” and check the live page before acting — and if it loads for you, you are ahead of us.
What we cannot tell you: which permit a spouse or child takes when the applicant holds this visa. The page promises family may join under the applicable rules and names no index; the family visa that would be the obvious fit says in its own text that it cannot be used to join a golden-visa holder, and this visa is classed as one. We looked for the route that replaces it and did not find it published.
